Pastor Sid was born and raised in Belleville Ontario, by loving parents who discipled him, two brothers and a sister, in and through the Christian Reformed Church. He attended Dordt College receiving a B.A. in Philosophy and went on to get his Masters of Divinity at Calvin Theological Seminary.

He began his ministry in 1986 in First Christian Reformed Church of Guelph, and helped daughter New Life CRC in 1988. While in Guelph, Pastor Sid married Susan DeVries, from Pine Bush, New York. They were blessed with four children while in Guelph.

He took a call in 1994 to Trinity Christian Reformed Church in Abbotsford, British Columbia, where he served for seventeen years. Their fifth child Monika was born in Mission, British Columbia.

Pastor Sid completed his Doctor of Ministry through Fuller Theological Seminary in 2009 and in 2011 took a call to Mountainview Christian Reformed Church in Grimsby, Ontario. There, he published a discipleship manual entitled: “Come and See; Our World Belongs to God.” In September 2019, he, along with his wife Sue, took up a new charge of serving First Christian Reformed Church here in Owen Sound.
